Mail client setup

Use your Domani inbox in the mail app you already know.

Read and send from Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird, iPhone, or any standard IMAP app. The same mailbox and folders stay synced everywhere.

Before you start.

You need a hosted mailbox on a domain you own and a dedicated app password. In Domani, open Inbox, then Email apps, select the mailbox, and create one password per device.

Which Domani addresses work?

  • Hosted mailbox on your domain

Works in the Domani web inbox and external email apps through IMAP and SMTP.

  • API mailbox or free @domani.run address

Use the web inbox, API, CLI, or MCP. These mailbox types do not provide IMAP and SMTP access.

The settings your app will ask for.

Choose IMAP, not POP. Authentication is required for incoming and outgoing mail.

Most setup errors come from a username, password, or security setting that looks almost right.

  • Use the full email address as the username for both servers.
  • Use the app password, not your Domani login password or API key.
  • Select IMAP and SSL/TLS. Do not select POP or Exchange.
  • Enable SMTP authentication and use the same username and app password.
  • If you revoked a password, create a new one and update the app.
